Air emission source inventory and emissions balance

A credible emissions assessment starts with knowing what is emitted, where and under which operating conditions. We organise information on sources, fuels and processes, giving operators and designers a consistent foundation for subsequent analysis and decisions.

Turning facility data into a traceable emissions balance

We identify sources associated with production, fuel combustion and other activities within the agreed boundary. Installation documentation is combined with operating records, available measurement results and input from process owners. Actual operating parameters, design values and assumptions are kept distinct so that calculations do not inadvertently mix incompatible bases.

For each source, we establish the relevant pollutants, units and reporting period. Emission quantities are compiled so their origin can be traced and related to installation activity. Checks address missing streams, inconsistent operating hours and potential double counting. Where information is incomplete, we describe the gap and explain how it affects the resulting balance.

The assessment identifies the contribution of different sources and the information worth improving before modelling, documentation or reporting. It does not replace measurements where these are needed to determine emissions. When fuel, capacity or operating arrangements change, the structured inventory helps identify the records requiring revision without rebuilding the entire source catalogue.

Technical data

Subject Emission sources, fuels, materials and processes within the agreed facility boundary.
Service type Source inventory and quantitative air emissions balance.
Assessment basis and requirements Technical documentation, operating data, available measurements and calculation methods selected for the sources and intended use.
Method
  1. Define the inventory boundary and a common reference period.
  2. Link sources to processes, fuels and operating activity records.
  3. Calculate emissions with documented parameters, units and assumptions.
  4. Check the balance and identify information gaps and update needs.

What you receive

You receive an emissions balance and source database containing the parameters used in the calculations. The package records data origins, assumptions and gaps affecting reliability. Its consistent structure supports transfer into modelling, environmental documentation or reporting and subsequent updates following installation changes, within the scope agreed for the assignment.
