Process built around
your decision —
not just your data
Acousticians, environmental engineers and field technicians — we take the readings and write the report.
How the work runs
Our six-step process provides a consistent framework, from investigating a complaint about a single fan to preparing a strategic noise map for an entire district. The scope and detail are tailored to each project.
Problem
What is actually being asked — a complaint, a permit condition, a limit that may or may not be exceeded.
Evidence
Measured on site, to standard, with the uncertainty stated. Numbers, not impressions.
Scenarios
We compare proposed changes with the measured baseline to assess their likely effects.
Decision
The options ranked against the limits that apply and what each one costs to reach them.
Implementation
Handed to whoever builds it — with the acceptance criteria written down in advance.
Verification
Follow-up measurements check whether the applicable limits have been met and identify any further action needed.
The methods
a decision rests on
Five ways of establishing a fact. Most questions need more than one, and which ones is settled by the question rather than picked off a list.
Measurement
Taken on site, to standard, with the uncertainty stated — at the receptor that matters rather than at the fence line. It is what settles whether a limit is really exceeded.

Modelling
We assess design options against the measured baseline, while changes are still easier and less costly to make.

Data analysis
We analyse measurements over longer periods to identify trends, taking weather and operating conditions into account.

Expert assessments
We prepare assessments and technical opinions for submission to the relevant authority, with input from the team that carried out the measurements.

Accredited testing
Carried out under the laboratory's accreditation, so the number holds when a regulator, a neighbour or a court pushes back.

What stands behind it
Group capabilities. Our measurement work connects with the group’s capabilities in solution design and ongoing monitoring, allowing findings to inform the next stage of work.

The evidence
Status analysis, campaigns and assessment. Everything is built on it.

Accredited testing, recognised research capabilities and active participation in scientific and standards bodies underpin the way we measure, assess and advise.
Acoustic testing of the environment, workplaces, machinery and building elements, including the environmental noise calculation methods specified in our accreditation scope.
For activities within that scope, our technical competence and laboratory procedures are subject to independent assessment. The published scope identifies the tests and methods covered.
