Environmental training for project, design and procurement teams

Turning environmental requirements into project specifications

The programme focuses on the interfaces between the developer, design team and procurement. We examine situations where missing equipment data, unclear operating conditions or late recognition of an environmental constraint complicates project delivery. Participants learn to organise requirements during early planning and identify the information needed for a meaningful comparison of proposed solutions.

Practical work follows the structure of a specification: from the environmental objective to a technical parameter and the evidence needed to demonstrate it. We discuss questions for suppliers, the difference between declared data and data relevant to a particular application, and topics requiring specialist analysis. Particular attention is given to passing agreed requirements between teams and project stages.

Training is tailored to the types of project and the responsibilities of participants. The principles support better specifications but do not replace design calculations or assessment of a specific quotation. Questions drawn from actual work help identify the necessary information and the points at which an appropriate specialist should join the project team.

Technical data

Subject Environmental requirements in design, procurement and project delivery
Service type Practical training for project and procurement teams
Assessment basis and requirements Participants' typical tasks, the organisation's project process and requirements associated with the solutions discussed.
Method
  1. Identify team roles and problems encountered when transferring information.
  2. Discuss requirements and technical parameters needed in specifications.
  3. Work through supplier questions and ways to substantiate performance data.
  4. Summarise coordination principles for subsequent project stages.

What you receive

You receive a programme, materials and training focused on the work of project, design and procurement teams. The materials help organise requirements, request relevant technical information and define how it should be checked. They provide a shared reference for specification development, supplier discussions and the handover of agreed requirements between people responsible for the project.

Framework agreement and ongoing environmental support

Ongoing support shaped around your facility

Environmental support needs to address routine operations alongside changes to processes, equipment and working arrangements. We begin by reviewing the facility's activities, available decisions, existing documentation and data collection practices. Together, we identify matters requiring regular attention and issues arising from expansion or modernisation that need their own specialist assessment or documentation.

This review informs the scope of support, allocation of responsibilities and work schedule. We structure information flows between operations staff, project teams and technical specialists. Within the agreed scope, we review documents, prepare material for communication with authorities and explain how proposed changes affect the next steps. Periodic reporting makes open issues and completed actions visible to the team.

The framework agreement defines the boundaries of the service and how additional work is commissioned. Measurements, modelling or documentation for a new development are included only as agreed. Findings reflect the information available at the time, so significant changes at the facility provide a reason to revisit priorities and update the support plan.

Technical data

Subject Operational obligations, documentation and changes at the facility
Service type Ongoing advisory and coordination support
Assessment basis and requirements Facility decisions and records, the agreed service scope and requirements applicable to the matters being supported.
Method
  1. Review documents, processes and responsibility for supplying data.
  2. Agree priorities, a schedule and a route for raising new issues.
  3. Coordinate analyses and materials for the agreed obligations.
  4. Report progress periodically and update the action plan.

What you receive

You receive an agreed scope of ongoing support, a schedule and periodic reports showing the status of active matters. The material sets out tasks, responsibilities and information needed for subsequent action. It helps your team plan internal work, commission specialist input and track obligations covered by the agreement as the installation changes.

Acoustic requirements and design review

Define the criteria before choosing the solution

We start with project objectives, affected locations and the responsibilities of the parties involved. Source parameters are distinguished from environmental noise requirements so that the specification does not confuse different quantities. Relevant operating conditions, supplier information needs and the application of criteria to equipment, installations or the complete facility are then defined for the planned investment.

Available designs and alternatives are reviewed against the requirements, source information and consistency of assumptions across documents. We identify missing data, contradictions and matters for designers or suppliers to clarify. This supports comparison on a common basis and checks whether conditions for later verification have been considered, rather than relying only on a general statement of compliance.

The review is based on the submitted documentation and does not automatically verify the performance of a future installation. Changes to the design or equipment information may require another review. Supply and installation of noise controls are excluded; the service organises requirements and highlights risks and questions worth resolving before procurement or construction proceeds.

Technical data

Subject Acoustic criteria for a design, specification or proposed alternatives.
Service type Requirement definition and expert review of design documentation.
Assessment basis and requirements Investor objectives, location conditions, equipment data, design documents and relevant assessment criteria.
Method
  1. Distinguish requirements for noise sources and receiver locations.
  2. Define reference conditions and information required from suppliers.
  3. Review designs and compare alternatives against agreed criteria.
  4. Document comments and conditions for subsequent performance checks.

What you receive

You receive requirements for the design or specification and a review report. The material presents criteria, their application conditions and comments on the documents reviewed, including questions requiring answers. It supports discussions with designers and suppliers and preparation for future performance checks, without including supply or installation of noise controls.

Scope and limitations

Supply and installation of noise control measures excluded
