A connected assessment of impacts, alternatives and mitigation
The report is based on defined project boundaries and information about the surrounding environment. We establish the assessment components, source data and need for investigations, analysis or modelling. Shared assumptions about construction stages, installation parameters and operating arrangements are essential: they allow specialist findings to be compared without mixing incompatible scenarios or different design versions.
We coordinate specialist contributions and combine the results into an assessment of the alternatives under consideration. The significance of impacts and proposed mitigation is examined in relation to specific sources and environmental receptors. Methods, evidence and limitations are documented so that the reasoning can be followed from project parameters through the analysis to the report's conclusions.
Findings should also inform subsequent design. We identify protective measures and operating assumptions on which the assessment depends and which need to be retained as the development progresses. Evidence-supported findings are distinguished from matters needing further investigation, helping the project team interpret results in context rather than relying on isolated numerical outputs.
